DEGREE
Degree - Basic qualification for Teaching English in Thailand
A bachelor’s degree in any field is the most basic qualification of a teacher as stipulated by the Thai Ministry of Education. In the eyes of Thai employers, a qualified teacher has a bachelor's degree, a TEFL certificate (or similar) and some experience. In reality, if you have just one or two of these qualifications, you probably won't be turned away. A bachelor’s degree of 4 years is often equivalent to some 3 years diploma in certain countries that assures work permit in Thailand ensuring legal employment. However, due to the dire need of English speaking teachers, some schools are forced to hire even those who do not have a degree, provided you are a smart and presentable farang (white). Adding on the credentials, a TEFL certificate makes you more employable in the eye of the majority of employers
